Specification Clarity Prompt:

"If an engineer in Christchurch receives your portfolio drawing today, can they order the exact materials and assemble your device tomorrow?"

Unpack: If your drawing says "made of plastic" or "metal screws," they cannot. A submission-ready specification details "3mm recycled High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE), assembled with 4 Γ— M3 304 Stainless Steel Allen bolts." Detail is what makes a conceptual design real.

Disassembly Schematic: Drawing the Recovery Sequence (10 min)

The element list above says the schematic is required. This is where it gets drawn, and it is drawn against a number the student already measured: the step and tool counts recorded when they took their model apart in Lesson 6.

1. Draw the sequence, one step per frame (6 min)

An exploded view with numbered steps, each showing what separates from what and which tool does it. Numbered frames beat a single crowded drawing: a repairer follows a sequence, not a picture.

2. Compare against the Lesson 6 count (2 min)

More steps than the model needed means the design drifted during refinement. Fewer means the schematic is skipping something a real repairer cannot skip. Either way the difference is written down and explained, and either way it is a finding rather than a mistake.

3. Hand it to someone who has not seen the model (2 min)

They read the schematic aloud as instructions. Anywhere they hesitate is a step that is clear only to its author, and that is the fastest edit available before submission.

Students open their Level 1 Digital Technology Portfolio and complete Section 8:

Section 8 Requirements:

1. Refined Final Conceptual Drawings: High-clarity drawings, renders, or interactive wireframes of the final design.

2. Technical Specification Sheet: Complete Bill of Materials (BOM) detailing materials, dimensions, and manufacturing methods.

3. Disassembly Schematic: Exploded view showing how components decouple for maintenance and recycling.
