Getting Started | Tīmata Mai
Q:
What is Te Kete Ako?
A: Te Kete Ako has two linked lanes. The first is the open public library:
browseable NZ curriculum resources, handouts, units, and lesson materials. The second is the
premium teacher workflow:
Te Wānanga,
Creation Studio, and
My Kete for drafting, adapting, saving, and
exporting classroom-ready material.
Q:
Do I need an account to use the resources?
A: You do not need an account to browse the public library. You will need an
account if you want to save resources, keep drafts in My Kete, or continue into the premium
workflow tools.
Q:
How do I create an account?
A: Click the "Login" button in the top navigation, then select "Create
Account". You'll need an email address and password. Creating a free account is quick, and if
you start from pricing or a gated premium tool, Te Kete Ako should return you to the workflow
you were trying to continue.
Q:
How much does it cost?
A: The public library remains free to browse. Paid plans are for the premium
teacher workflow, not for access to a bigger library. If you need help choosing between
Free / Tūwhera, Te Tiriti, Kaiako Pro, or a school/kura rollout, start on the
pricing page.
Using Resources | Whakamahi Rauemi
Q:
How do I print resources?
A: All our handouts and lesson plans are optimized for A4 printing. Simply use
your browser's print function (Cmd+P or Ctrl+P). The page will automatically hide navigation and
adjust formatting for beautiful printouts.
Q:
Can I modify the resources for my classroom?
A: Yes! Feel free to adapt any resources to suit your students' needs. We
encourage teachers to modify, remix, and personalise materials. Please maintain attribution to
Te Kete Ako if sharing modified versions.
Q:
Are resources aligned to the NZ Curriculum?
A: Yes! Every resource includes explicit connections to NZ Curriculum
Achievement Objectives. You'll find curriculum alignment information at the top of each lesson
plan and handout.
Q:
How do I find resources for my year level or subject?
A: Use the navigation menus at the top to browse by:
- Subject: Click "Subjects" to see resources for English, Math, Science,
Social Studies, etc.
- Year Level: Click "Year Levels" to filter for Years 1–13
- Type: Click "Resources" to browse Unit Plans, Lesson Plans, or Handouts
You can also use the "Browse All Resources" page with filtering options.
Premium Workflow | Te Ara Kaiako
Q:
What is Te Wānanga for?
A: Te Wānanga is the premium first-draft tool. It helps you get to a strong
starting lesson or sequence quickly, then move into Creation Studio for refinement and My Kete
for continuity.
Q:
What changes when I move from Te Wānanga to Creation Studio?
A: Te Wānanga is for fast first drafts. Creation Studio is where you adapt,
structure, and prepare the draft for classroom use or export. The paid value is in keeping
that workflow connected instead of jumping between disconnected tools.
Q:
What does My Kete do in the premium workflow?
A: My Kete is where saved resources, collections, and drafts stay connected.
It is the continuity layer that lets you come back to work later instead of starting again from
scratch.
Q:
I generated a draft. What should I do next?
A: The normal next step is:
Te Wānanga for the first draft,
Creation Studio for refinement,
then
My Kete for continuity and return use.
The paid value is the connected sequence, not any single page on its own.
Q:
Where do exports fit in the workflow?
A: Exports belong near the end of the workflow. Use Te Wānanga to get momentum, Creation Studio to adapt and polish, My Kete to keep the draft connected, and export once the material is ready to share or print.

desktop computers. For the best experience on mobile, consider adding the site to your home

Teaching & Pedagogy | Ako me te Whakaako
Q:
What makes Te Kete Ako different from other teaching resources?
A: Our resources are:
- Culturally authentic: Mātauranga Māori is integrated as foundational
knowledge, not an add-on
- Research-based: Grounded in critical pedagogy and culturally responsive
teaching
- NZ-specific: Built for Aotearoa's unique educational context
- Print-optimized: Beautiful A4 printouts, not just screen-based
- Teacher-created: Made by practising teachers who understand classroom
realities
Q:
How do I integrate mātauranga Māori in my teaching?
A: Our resources model authentic integration. Look for:
- Whakataukī (proverbs) that connect to learning concepts
- Te Ao Māori perspectives in every subject area
- Connections between mātauranga Māori and contemporary knowledge
- Cultural responsiveness notes in lesson plans
Remember: Integration is about honoring Māori ways of knowing as sophisticated, legitimate
knowledge systems — not just "including" token cultural elements.
Q:
Can I contribute my own resources?
A: Yes! We welcome contributions from teachers. Please
contact us with your materials.
All contributors retain ownership of their work and are properly credited.
Billing, Access, and School Rollout | Utu me te Ara Kura
Q:
What should I do if checkout worked but access still looks wrong?
A: Use the
Billing & Access Help
path. Include your account email and the workflow you were trying to continue so we can reply
with the right next step quickly.
Q:
I can sign in, but I am not sure which page I should return to.
A: Use
Te Wānanga if you still need a first draft,
Creation Studio if you are already editing, and
My Kete if you want to reopen saved work. If none of those match what you expected after checkout, use the billing and access help path so we can repair the return step.
Q:
Can a school or kura start without a full enterprise setup?
A: Yes. The current school lane is intentionally light. Start with a small
kaiako cohort, prove the workflow, and widen access only when it has earned its place. The best
first stop is the
school & kura path.
Q:
Where should I ask about equity pricing, onboarding, or rollout support?
A: Use the
school rollout contact path.
That lane is for practical rollout questions: who is in scope, what support is needed, and
whether pricing flexibility matters in your context.
Still Have Questions?
If your question is about premium workflow access, school rollout, or billing, use the right support path so we can reply with a practical next step instead of a generic answer.
