Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using Te Kete Ako ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you disagree with any part of these terms, you may not access the Service.

These Terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access or use the Service.

Use License & Educational Purpose

Te Kete Ako grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to:

  • Access and use resources for educational purposes
  • Download and print materials for classroom use
  • Modify resources to suit your teaching needs
  • Share resources with students and colleagues

Educational Use Only: All resources are provided for educational purposes in Aotearoa New Zealand schools and learning environments. Commercial use or redistribution for profit is strictly prohibited without written permission.

User Accounts

When you create an account, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete information
  • Maintain the security of your password
  • Not share your account with others
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access
  • Use the Service in compliance with New Zealand law

You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

The Service and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by Te Kete Ako and are protected by New Zealand and international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

Attribution

User Contributions

If you contribute resources to Te Kete Ako, you retain ownership of your work but grant us a non-exclusive license to display and distribute it through our platform. You can request removal of your contributions at any time.

Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
  • Scrape, data mine, or systematically download content
  • Upload malicious code or viruses
  • Impersonate another user or person
  • Harass, abuse, or harm other users
  • Sell or commercially exploit our resources without permission

Disclaimer of Warranties

Te Kete Ako is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that:

  • The Service will be uninterrupted or error-free
  • Defects will be corrected
  • The Service is free from viruses or harmful components
  • Resources will meet your specific teaching requirements

Professional Judgment: While we strive for accuracy and quality, teachers should use their professional judgment in selecting and adapting resources for their specific context and students.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by New Zealand law, Te Kete Ako shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from your use or inability to use the Service.

Te Kete Ako is committed to honoring Te Tiriti o Waitangi and mātauranga Māori. We strive for cultural authenticity and responsiveness in all our resources.

Changes to Resources

Termination

We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time. If a revision is material, we will provide at least 30 days' notice before new terms take effect. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
