What the portfolio proves

This rubric assesses writing decisions and revision evidence. It does not assess cultural identity, accent, private disclosure, handwriting, eye contact, or willingness to perform publicly.

Four evidence criteria

Purpose and audience

The form, register, detail, and structure suit the stated purpose and reader.

Craft control

Language and sentence choices create an identifiable effect rather than decorating the piece.

Development

Ideas are selected, sequenced, and supported so the reader can follow the whole text.

Revision evidence

Feedback or self-review led to consequential changes; proofreading follows revision.
