Take one source annotation you have already written. Two minutes: underline every word that evaluates — that judges reliability, weighs bias, or compares against another source.
If most of your annotation is summary with a sentence of judgement at the end, it is sitting at Achieved. Excellence annotations are mostly judgement, with just enough summary to anchor it.
📖 Activity 1: Rebuild One Annotation to Excellence
Diagnose the set (13 min). Sort all your annotations into three piles: mostly summary, summary with judgement attached, and genuine evaluation throughout. Count each pile. That count is your honest current grade, and it is more useful than any predicted one.
Rebuild one (12 min). Take your weakest annotation and rewrite it so that every sentence does evaluative work — origin and its consequence, purpose and its distortion, one cross-reference that corroborates or contradicts. Then use it as the template for the rest.
