Inquiry Focus
Investigate a local issue (e.g., water quality, invasive species, habitat loss). Gather evidence from field notes and locally authorised public sources. Learners are never required to supply community or whānau knowledge.
Data to Decision
- Summarise evidence (tables/graphs, photos, observations).
- Identify likely causes and affected species (use food web from L2).
- Draft an action plan that names who acts, what happens, when, how success is measured, and whose permission is required.
Action Proposal (Summative)
- One-page proposal submitted by the end of Lesson 3; any later presentation is optional.
- Criteria: scientific validity, feasibility, permission pathway, and measurable positive impact.
Extend learning by naming one plausible failure condition and one measurement that would detect it.
