Conceptual Design Brief & Evidence Sheet
Year 11 Technology · Sustainable Technology unit · one sheet that follows your whole project
1. The issue (Lesson 1)
Name the real sustainability issue you are designing for. Who does it affect, here in Aotearoa?
2. The brief (Lesson 1)
One sentence: "Design a ___ for ___ so that ___." A good brief names the user and the need — not the solution.
3. Stakeholders and their needs (Lesson 2)
| Stakeholder | What they need from the design | How you found out (evidence) |
|---|---|---|
4. Environmental lifecycle check (Lesson 3)
Where do the materials come from, and where does the product go at end of life? Note one kaitiakitanga consideration in your own words.
5. Concepts (Lessons 4–5)
Sketch or name at least two different concepts that answer the brief. Different means different working principle — not the same idea twice.
6. Evaluation against your criteria (Lesson 5)
| Criterion (from your brief) | Concept A | Concept B |
|---|---|---|
7. Stakeholder feedback → one change (Lesson 6)
What did a real stakeholder say, and what did you change because of it? Quote them.
8. Specifications & model evidence (Lessons 7–8)
One functional specification, one aesthetic specification, and what your model or test told you that a drawing could not.
9. Final justification (Lessons 9–10)
Why THIS concept over the other — fewer trade-offs, better fit to the criteria, stronger sustainability case? Argue from rows 6 and 7, not from preference.
