NCEA Level 2 Mechanics Exam Strategy (15 min)
Clearly label state transitions: State A (Spring ) State B (Kinetic ) State C (Collision ) State D (2D Projectile).
Always specify magnitude, SI units, and vector direction for displacement, velocity, acceleration, force, momentum, and torque.
Peer Defence and Audit (15 min)
Walk a partner through one multi-stage problem in five minutes: the physical transitions you identified, the principle you applied at each one, and why. Saying it aloud exposes the steps you assumed rather than justified, which is exactly where marks are lost under exam conditions.
As the auditor, ignore whether the final number is right. Check four things: is every symbol defined, does every quantity carry SI units, is a direction stated for every vector, and is each principle NAMED rather than assumed. A correct answer with none of these still sits at Achieved.

3. Portfolio Completion Check: Verify Sections 1–10 are fully completed and self-checked. This is a formative revision resource, not an assessment submission — this standard is assessed by external examination, so the portfolio's job is to have every worked method, error analysis and formula in one place to revise from.
