Frequently Asked Questions
The library includes thousands of active teaching resources across Social Studies, English, Science, Digital Technologies, Mathematics, and more. Current resource and curriculum denominators are generated from release evidence rather than maintained as marketing copy. Resources include lesson plans, handouts, unit outlines, printable templates, and classroom activities — all searchable by curriculum level, learning area, and keyword.
Te Wānanga is the AI lesson-drafting tool. You give it a curriculum outcome, a year level, and context about your class — and it generates a structured lesson plan draft grounded in the NZC. Kaiako Pro includes the full generation and refinement workflow.
You don't need one — the teaching library is free to view with a Kaiako Free account (and much of it without any account at all). The paid tools (Te Wānanga AI drafting, Creation Studio) are subscription-only, but AI Workshop attendees receive a 60-day Kaiako Pro voucher code. Otherwise, you can subscribe monthly and cancel before your next billing date if it is not for you.
Kaiako Pro is the individual teacher plan. It includes the full Te Wānanga AI lesson drafting workflow, Creation Studio, unlimited print/download, and saved creations. The teaching library is free for everyone to view — Kaiako Free or anon — so Pro is about the workflow on top, not the library itself. School and kura rollouts use the enterprise pathway so staff can receive Kaiako Pro access with org support and private school spaces.
It is genuinely grounded in the NZ curriculum — not generic. The platform surfaces audited curriculum-alignment evidence where resource connections have been verified, and unit alignment pages quote Te Mātaiaho verbatim only where that source evidence is present. The AI tools are built to generate within that curriculum structure, with resources designed for Aotearoa classrooms rather than repurposed from Australian or UK sources.
Yes. You can cancel from your account dashboard at any time. If billing is active, you keep access until the end of your current billing period — no partial refunds, no penalties. Annual subscribers who cancel keep access until the year runs out.
Yes. Educational equity matters here. If you are from a kura Māori, a low-decile school, or any context where the standard pricing is a barrier, contact us and we will work through a rollout pathway with you. The school lane has equity pricing built in as a conversation, not an afterthought.
Years 7–13 (intermediate and secondary). Core learning areas include Social Studies, English, Science, Digital Technologies, and Mathematics, with cross-curricular resources in Cultural Studies, Media Literacy, and te ao Māori integration. Coverage is strongest in Social Studies and Digital Technologies.
Individual plans are per-person. If your department or kura wants shared access for multiple teachers, the school lane is the right path — see the Schools & Kura page for the rollout conversation, including department pricing and onboarding support.
Use the contact page — there is a real person on the other end. For school or kura enquiries, the Schools & Kura page has a dedicated pathway. Response time is usually within one business day.
